It was a flash
A precious dream
When two old battle scarred lions
Played as if they were cubs again.
The joy and the laughter
The cheerful play
Made us forget for a moment
That life was not just fun and games.
In these short days of freedom
Our youth returned with force
And all things seemed possible
As we took life by the horns.
Now we have awoken
To a strange reality
Our once strong fangs are worn and broken
And where will we go from here?

The Dream of the Old Lions
Saturday, April 30, 2011
If then we find our father and mother and brothers there in that lonely spot, telling us to turn around and that all that matters is that we run... then we can and even if we make last place blistered and bruised, we will still have reached the finish line.

The One
When the company of people cannot grant release
When nature has not yet burst forth with life
In order that a solitary soul may yet to strength revive
When dancing drink will not permit the thoughts to leave
When sleep escapes on wings of doubtful grief
When nothing changes as it was expected to
There is only One, the One always worth turning to.
That One can put my soul to rest
His hand protects and shelters as can no-one else
His love makes me forget my fears
His comfort wipes away all tears.

Tree Of Hope

Hope springs up like the seedling of a tree
Fragile at birth almost ignored for many years
Until now it has grown into a mighty force
Mostly unnoticed and over hard stretches of thirst
Hope long deferred makes my bones so dry
I dig at the roots and removed it, I try
But the tree smiles at me with his gentle shade
And my tears fall like a river at it's mighty feet
At the river we were planted yet we both are dry
And the many gnarled branches reach like arms into the sky
This Hope is such a terrible and living thing
And even in despair it makes my soul to sing.

The Sands Of The Desert

The sands of the desert are crying for rain
Let their voices not vanish in vain.
Scorched by the sun
Driven by wind
Cast against rocks and
Cold in darkness of night.
Under lonely skies
Scattered abroad far away
So as if not to be gathered again
Yet the sands of the desert are crying for rain
To be gathered together
And established as one
Let the desert be flooded with blossoms, oh Lord.
Let the sands turn to soil and bring fruit.
